Dimension Data is to acquire UK based mvision in a deal done for an undisclosed amount. Dimension Data, the global IT solutions and services firm announced Tuesday it had purchased mvision, the UK based video conference integrator, network and managed video services provider. Dimension Data is estimated to be worth $4 billion and its operations span the globe.

The investment is part of Dimension’s strategy aimed at accelerating time to market in managed video, and increase penetration in the hosted UC solutions and new generation video space. The firm is hopeful the two teams from the two firms, with their experience and skills will be able to institute the basis for the group to globalize its Managed Video Services.

mvision supplies, installs, maintains and manages video conference and Telepresence endpoints – and where required – also connects the endpoints to their dedicated managed video network. Dimension Data UK managing director Ton van Horssen said the acquisition will boost Dimension Data’s capability to offer a full package of Visual Communications solutions. Other than that, the acquisition as well complements Dimension’s current Converged Communications proposition in the UK. The synergies between the two firms’ are excellent, said Horrsen.

Horrsen reiterated that the both companies are services-led but believe in selling a full complement of professional services, managed services and technology. Dimension Data UK service offerings are complementary and well aligned, and the two cultures are highly compatible. In addition, there is little overlap in Dimension’s client bases, so the opportunity for growth by leveraging both companies' client bases is significant, he explained, adding that in time, mvision will be integrated into Dimension Data.

Dimension Data plc, a specialist IT services and solution provider, helps clients plan, build, and support and manage their IT infrastructures. Dimension Data applies its expertise in networking, converged communications, security; data centre solutions, Microsoft and contact centre technologies, and its unique skills in consulting, integration and managed services to create customized client solutions.
