Trustmarque acquires Nimbus Technology Systems as part of its evolving cloud strategy

Trustmarque Solutions, a Value Added Reseller (VAR), announced Thursday the acquisition of cloud infrastructure and hosted services provider, Nimbus Technology Systems Ltd.

The acquisition provides Trustmarque with more breadth and depth of expertise in cloud service delivery as well as acquiring an expanded portfolio of managed cloud services from simple hosted email systems (hosted Microsoft Exchange 2007®) right through to complete hosted IT and Telecoms systems for larger organizations.

Nimbus Technology Systems currently provides consultancy, planning and migration services as well as a range of cloud infrastructure and software-as-a-service solutions for SME organizations. Nimbus’ clients are able to access and run their businesses on enterprise-class IT systems, software and infrastructure without any capital investment.

Whilst Trustmarque is already active in assisting organizations to plan and achieve their goals in this area, the acquisition delivers an established customer base, proven services and access to specific expertise and resources in cloud delivery.

Through the Nimbus acquisition, leveraging best of breed providers and legacy expertise, Trustmarque is able to help customers safely and securely adopt cloud technologies into their IT environment. The net result is an ability to provide the right solution for customers whether it’s ‘on-premise’, ‘off-premise’ or a mix of both, affording customers true, independent service from a trusted partner.

This transaction is the first in a planned series of strategic acquisitions by Trustmarque as it aims to extend its expertise, range of capabilities and value added service offerings. The Nimbus acquisition will enhance Trustmarque Enterprise Solutions Group (TESG) services by adding a suite of hosted and managed solutions that sit between on-premise and SaaS offering a greater degree of customization and customer alignment.

Simon Rutt will be heading up the TESG division, which will incorporate the Nimbus stack of services following the acquisition, and takes on the role of Services and Solutions Director.
Commenting on the acquisition, Rutt noted customers want to understand straight forward options around cloud and how Trustmarque can help their organization securely and safely adopt cloud technologies.
Rutt stated that as the cloud market develops, more and more technologies are being offered as a managed service. This ‘externalization’ of IT is compelling as it offers the promise of agility and efficiency, he said.

However, questions remain around compliance, licensing, governance and security. There are complexities around interoperability and how best to ‘knit’ these managed services together with on-premise applications, to deliver the best business process outcomes, added Rutt.
